HB BUILD festival

March 3, 4 and 5 2012, 12:00 – 20:00 Hours / Uhr

We invite you to our three-day, multi-disciplinary festival at the HomeBase LAB located in Pankow, Berlin. This event is the result of HomeBase BUILD II, a three-month-long international Artist-in-Residence and research program.

The highlights of this event include:

  • 16 open studios with site-specific installations relating to the topic of Home, community projects, performances, music, lectures, readings, KunstKompost, GreenHouse, and the live brewing of Ignatz Bier.
  • Celebration of the history of the site through the artistic re-staging of the historical Engelhardt photograph taken exactly 105 years ago on March 5th,1907.
  • Symposium relating to new models combining contemporary art and social innovation.

The event is free and open to the public.

The event is free and open to the public, all are welcome and will be in loving memory of Shiri Chaya Sandler (Sep 5th,1976 – Dec 12, 2011), friend, artist, thinker, co-creator of the HomeBase project.

Our mission

The meaning of 'Home' has become ever more elusive and complex, especially in these times of financial uncertainty, rapid technological developments and extreme urban change. The HomeBase Project creates a unique platform for a multi-disciplinary artistic exploration of the notion of home as the foundation of humanity. It aims to foster a sense of interconnectedness in society through the arts, awaken social responsibility and integrate contemporary art into everyday urban living.
