Kunst Kompost

HomeBase KunstKompost is a Limited Edition Set of 99 Cans of Organic Artistic Production.

It contains 100% site-specific, artist-funded, organic material and is created on site by artists living at the HomeBase LAB during the HomeBase BUILD residency, August – October 2011.

KunstKompost is a natural solution to the organic waste we produce daily in our kitchen at HomeBase. It shows the necessity for time, warmth, air, and water to assist the natural process of life.

Composting involves the decomposition of once-living materials to make an earthy, dark, crumbly substance that is excellent for adding to houseplants or enriching garden soil. Green materials like grass clippings, vegetablesm and coffee grounds add nitrogen whilst brown ingredients like leaves, brown paper scraps, and straw contribute carbon to the compost process.

Our mission

The meaning of 'Home' has become ever more elusive and complex, especially in these times of financial uncertainty, rapid technological developments and extreme urban change. The HomeBase Project creates a unique platform for a multi-disciplinary artistic exploration of the notion of home as the foundation of humanity. It aims to foster a sense of interconnectedness in society through the arts, awaken social responsibility and integrate contemporary art into everyday urban living.
