Sylvie Degiez

Sylvie Degiez is a composer and music educator who’s work has been presented in NYC at the Kitchen, Summer Stage series, Makor/92stY, BAM and in Europe. She is a pioneer in a method that teaches music using physics and composition to develop a profound and lasting understanding. Her composition work seeks to apply philosophical ideas to music and/or performance and has taken different aspects: as a soloist with a very unique piano style where the use of electronic pedal and rebounding devices emphasize overtones or undertones. as the writer and director of scripted group improvisation that bring various media together as well as an eclectic array of people: the purpose of it being cohabitation of ideas and people of various age or background into a unifying and powerful experience.

The HomeBase Project creates a unique platform for a multi-disciplinary artistic exploration of the notion of home as the foundation of humanity. It aims to foster a sense of interconnectedness in society through the arts, awaken social responsibility and integrate contemporary art into everyday urban living.
